"I don't think there's any more lanterns, should we make camp for the night?" Hatsu whispered as she withdrew her hand from the firebox, squinting ahead through the dark.
The road had been difficult to find — many layers of wet leaves obscured what should have been a well worn path with only stone lanterns as their guide.
"I do find having a roof over my head preferrable to a cold, damp floor, don't you agree?" Hancock asked, making great motions to kick at the soft, matted leaves.
Considering the impenetrable fog that had also begun to settle in, his request was not unreasonable but no more than a few feet later, Hatsu threw her arm out to halt her companion — the sudden snapping of twigs made her blood run cold.
"Ow! Dear if you plan to stop, please say so-"
"Shh! Did you hear that?"
They glanced back down the winding path to see one less lantern, then one after another, the darkness rushed forward.

Notes: I'm aware this is seven sentences and that it would work if I took out Hancock's complaining (sentence 5). I'd remove it if it was needed for the challenge but!! I'm leaving it here because I need practice writing his voice. u_u
