"Hatsu"

Warrior of Light

・ Alias: Hatsu

・ Birthplace: Yanxia

・ Paternal family: grandmother (deceased), grandfather (deceased), father (deceased)

・ Maternal family: grandmother (deceased), grandfather (presumed dead), mother (deceased)

・ Motifs: peonies, maple leaves, koi fish

・ Image colors: red, white, black

・ Class: Goldsmith, White Mage, Dancer, Ninja

She has round, slightly down-turned eyes and an innocent, priestess-like appearance.

While she remembered very little about her family, her instincts for survival and trade for having lived in Ul'dah, remained. And by the power of Muscle Memory, so too were goldsmithing abilities retained.

Although she blushes easily, her expressions are small and subtle, usually maintaining an expressionless face (one she hopes is exemplar of a hero) and only letting herself really smile when she is with people she feels close to. Her excitable side appears when it comes to jewelry. She can be opportunistic and materialistic, always wanting compensation for her work, but deep down, she has a hard time ignoring pleas for help.

The closer the relationship, the more she shows a gentle and attentative side that cares about those around her.

Azem

・ Name: Lethe

・ Motifs: Spider lilies, foxgloves

・ Image colors: red, gold, black

Lethe was her name and she always had a child-like whimsy about her. Forgetful and innocent, her naivety challenged as she began to travel the star as Azem.

Her duty was to brew the Five Flavored Tea of Forgetfulness, a symbolic ritual for a peaceful reincarnation. She must greet souls returning to the sea to provide this drink in the hopes of a new life unburdened by the past.

However, she secretly resented her role and hated her own tendency to forget even mundane things.

The impending Sundering spurred her to quickly try to find ways to bring the Ancients back together. Coming up with no solution alongside her fear of forgetfulness, she instead developed a brew to preserve her memories so that her shards may one day return with an answer.

Hatsu's scrambled echo was the result of this experiment and it was a boon as much as it was a bane.

through the years

Background

Hatsu was born in Yanxia to a family of goldsmiths (father's side) and tea farmers (mother's side). Her family escaped the Garlean invasion when she was only an infant and was raised in the outskirts of Ul'dah alongside Ala Mhigan refugees. Safer to pose as traveling merchants, they took new names and offered their wares to the wealthy. Hatsu specialized in repairing jewelry and often needed Tataru's knowledge in the lapidary arts, thus becoming business partners and childhood friends.

After the Calamity, she suffered many holes in her memories, even her true name blotted out by aether. In their place were fleeting visions of past reincarnations.

With no traces of her family remaining, never having known Doma and with no place to belong, she packed up the remnants of her family's possessions as her only clues and set off, hoping that by traveling all over the world, she might find the answer she was looking for.

She refused to accept her responsibilities as a Warrior of Light and ran from them for as long as she could, instead, compelled to chase a past only she remembers and yet unable to piece together her own history. Much like her Ascian brethren, a feeling there is something more tugs at her heart — a yearning for the past, the regret of a broken promise, a desperation to return home — it fueled her every action.
